Clearing price: What will be the final clearing amount? Order

"How much will it cost to clear out my apartment?" or "Can you please tell me the total price for clearing out the basement?" These are questions we hear daily from clients who need to get rid of their unnecessary items but also want to have a clear idea of the costs and how much it will cost them.
Just like in a supermarket, where you cannot estimate the cost of a purchase without knowing what is in your basket, clearing also requires knowing the full scope of the job.
Most clearing companies set prices based on the hourly rate per worker, plus the costs for transportation, waste disposal, and any special requests. Therefore, it is important for each client to provide the most accurate information about what will be cleared, how much, and from where.
If someone simply writes "How much does clearing cost?", it is almost impossible to provide a relevant quote. Without knowing the quantity and type of the items to be cleared, without information about the accessibility of the premises, and without other details, any price quote is just a confusing estimate.
Anyone who responds to such a vague inquiry with a specific amount either lacks sufficient experience or is making a risky guess. Clearing may take a few hours, but it could also stretch into several days, especially if it involves large spaces or a lot of waste disposal.
We often encounter clients who claim it’s a "small clearance," which will be done in a moment and therefore cheap—just getting rid of the sofa. However, it turns out to be an apartment full of old furniture, appliances, and other waste that requires special procedures and a lot of work and time to dispose of. But the sofa is the biggest item, so it was announced as the only main point of the clearance.
Standard clearance involves clearing a typically dirty apartment or house with a normal amount of waste. However, then we might encounter an apartment after a deceased person, full of old belongings, or a house after renovation where construction debris and other waste need to be disposed of. At that point, the client starts getting upset about the low price we initially provided. But that’s only because we didn’t have enough information about the actual state of the cleared space, and we gave the price based on the client’s information.
For the client to get the best possible quote, it is important to provide as accurate information as possible about the space being cleared and the quantity and type of waste. The more information you provide, the more accurate and beneficial our quote for the clearance work will be.
Factors affecting the price of clearing:
- Location: The place where the clearance will take place.
- Size of the space: How many rooms and how large is the space being cleared.
- Type of waste: What items will be cleared (furniture, appliances, construction debris, glass, plastics, tires, food, hazardous waste, etc.).
- Amount of waste: The volume of the cleared items directly affects the price.
- Accessibility: How easy it is to access the cleared space (elevator, stairs, narrow hallways, etc.).
- Timing: When you need the clearance done.
- Need for disassembly: Furniture, appliances, and other items that need to be taken apart before being removed.
- Special requests: Disposal of hazardous waste, disinfection, pest control, and other special tasks.
- Transportation: The distance to the disposal site and the transportation costs of the waste.
- Waste disposal: The costs of legally disposing of the waste at a landfill or recycling center.
- Need for post-clearance cleaning: Some clients also request final cleaning of the cleared space.
- Use of special equipment: In case of hard-to-access places or large and heavy furniture.
How to get the most accurate quote:
- Provide as much information as possible: The more detailed you describe the scope of work, the more accurate the quote will be.
- Send photographs: Photos of the cleared space will help the clearing company better estimate the scope of work.
- Schedule a site visit: Some clearing companies offer free site visits where you can discuss all the details and the price.
- Ask about anything you are unsure of: Don’t settle for vague answers, ask about all the details.
- Compare multiple offers: Before deciding, compare offers from multiple clearing companies.
- Check references: Read reviews and references from previous customers or from friends and acquaintances.
- Make sure the company has insurance: In case any property gets damaged.
- Ask about the method of waste disposal: Make sure the company disposes of waste legally and environmentally.
- Inform about specific requirements: If you have specific requirements, such as waste sorting or disposal of valuable items, inform the clearing company.
With this information, we will be able to provide you with an accurate and fair quote that will meet your needs, as well as those of us, the franchisees and partners of the international EXTRA SERVICES network, as professional providers of clearing services.
