Amateur vs. Professional Order
In the apartment where the new family was moving in, two parallel stories were unfolding concerning furniture assembly. In one room, the enthusiastic amateur handyman, the new tenant of the apartment, eagerly started his assembly work. In the other room, with calmness and precision unique to him, a professional furniture assembler from Extra Services was at work.
The hobbyist, armed with basic but new tools and an incredible passion for the task, unpacked a box with a new dresser. The assembly instructions were a bit complicated and unclear, but the passionate helper wasn’t discouraged by it. With a smile and determination, he got to work. After a while, the sound of a hammer and a screwdriver could be heard in the room. Occasionally, he paused to think over unclear instructions in the manual, but with a bit of improvisation and using his own judgment, he was able to successfully assemble the dresser in the end. The result wasn’t 100% perfect. Some joints were slightly crooked, and the doors didn’t fit perfectly, but the dresser was functional.
The experienced professional with years of experience and practice, meanwhile, was assembling a wardrobe in the neighboring room. His movements were fluid, confident, and absolutely precise. First, he carefully studied the manual, counted and checked all the parts, and prepared the necessary tools, which had seen some use. With absolute certainty and calmness, he put the individual parts of the wardrobe together. Every joint was perfectly aligned, the screws tightened precisely with an artistic touch, and the doors and drawers fit like a glove. This expert worked systematically and efficiently. After a short while, a beautiful and fully functional wardrobe stood in the room, looking as if it came straight from a catalog.
The new tenant, encouraged by his success with the dresser, began assembling another piece of new furniture. This time it was a dining table. He also struggled (occasionally) with unclear instructions and sometimes was missing a screw or two. But with the help of the internet and his own ideas, he eventually managed to assemble the dining table. Even though the result wasn’t perfect and the table’s expansion feature didn’t quite work, the new tenant was satisfied. After all, he did it himself and saved money by not hiring the professional assembler, who was surely sweating in the next room.
The veteran furniture assembler, meanwhile, in the second room finished assembling the wardrobe and moved on to another piece of furniture, this time a large double bed. And once again, with the precision and professionalism unique to him, he assembled this bed completely on his own. All the joints were firm and stable, the bed looked beautiful and, most importantly, functional. But not only did it look good. It truly worked. This professional worked quickly, expertly, safely, and efficiently, while paying attention to every detail. His goal was to deliver perfect work, and a satisfied customer was his priority.
When both men finished their work, each proudly looked at their creation. Even though some pieces of furniture assembled by the tenant were not exactly perfect, and not everything worked exactly as it should, he was still satisfied with what he had achieved. He saved money and felt good about assembling the furniture himself. The craftsman from Extra Services also admired his work. All the pieces of furniture were perfectly assembled and fully functional. The new tenant was also very satisfied with the professional’s work.
Both men, the amateur and the professional, did their job. Each in their own way and, of course, with a different result. So, what’s the lesson here? It’s important for everyone to be satisfied. To find joy and satisfaction not only in how the furniture looks and works, but also in their work. In the positive energy they put into what they do and what fulfills them. You should always hire a professional.
